Robin Haag – Owner/Massage Therapist

Robin joined Backs By Popular Demand in January of 1994 under the direction of Maggie Kelly and became owner in January of 1998. She graduated from Washburn University in 1991 with a degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training. She worked with Dr. Joseph Shaw from 1991-1993 where she was instructed in Myofascial Release. Robin continued her massage education with Maggie Kelly, completing her Massage Therapy class and Advanced Massage Techniques. Robin has also completed classes in Foot Reflexology and Ortho-bionamy.  Her specialty is Myofasical Release, Swedish Massage Therapy, Foot Reflexology, and Raindrop Therapy . After 22+ years of ‘Rubbing People the Right Way”, Robin believes that in today’s world, massage is a necessity not a luxury. People are pushed and pulled in so many different directions and taking time to take care of you is extremely important in order for you to take care of others, be it family, friends, or work.

Misty Perry – Massage Therapist

Misty graduated from Wellspring School of Allied Health and Wellness in 2010 and has been a part of the BBPD team since 2011. She specializes in Deep Tissue Massage and Sports Massage. She enjoys helping her clients relax and relieve stress. Misty was recently named #1 massage therapist in Topeka, KS for 2016 and plans to continue her career to assist others by providing the beneficial effects of massage therapy.

Katheryn Dankenbring – Massage Therapist

Katheryn, CMT, graduated in January 2014 from Wellspring School of Allied Health in Lawrence, Kansas.  She is certified in Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Sports Massage and Prenatal Massage. She also uses Trigger Point Therapy in sessions when needed. Katheryn has been with Backs By Popular Demand since April of 2014 and works with many clients from young children to senior citizens. Katheryn is looking to add Foot Spa Massage to her list of modalities for clients as well.

Christy Kay – Massage Therapist

Christy, CMT, has over 25 years of experience as a licensed massage therapist and training in Deep Tissue Massage, Swedish Massage, Neuromuscular therapy, Sports Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Foot Reflexology and Orthopedic Massage. Her goal is to provide deep overall relaxation while addressing muscle tension and imbalances. Christy specializes in working with neck and back muscular pain and tension as well as athletic muscle injuries. She also provides Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage. Christy received her education and training through the Sports Massage Institute, Neuromuscular Institute, UCSF School of Medicine, and San Francisco School of Massage.

Erica Vasser – Massage Therapist

Erica graduated from Concorde Career College of Memphis, Tennessee in 2009. She began with us here at Backs By Popular Demand in April of 2016. She specializes in Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, and prenatal Massage. Erica has a strong belief in drinking water and that the body has the ability to heal itself. She teaches her clients deep breathing for better relaxation, a true stress free zone.

Phyllis McCune Gibbs – Massage Therapist

Phyllis, LMT, graduated from Nevada School of Massage Therapy (NSMT) in Las Vegas, Nevada in December 2014, having completed both the Professional Massage Therapy program and the Master Bodywork Program with 1036 combined hours in a wide variety of modalities. She joined BBPD in May of 2016. Phyllis has also received certifications in Medical Massage and Facial Stretch Therapy- Level One. She is a Reiki Master and has been an affiliate member of the International Center for Reiki Training since August of 2013. Phyllis is currently licensed with the State of Nevada (#NVMT 7242) and also maintains a practice in Kansas. Phyllis’ “Phyl-o-sophy”: The body is truly amazing and when supported in the right conditions, it can heal and flourish or simply feel better. The right conditions include reducing the effects of stress and blocked energy flow. Each person is unique and deserving of feeling good.
